APRIL
Rehearsals continued for the community band that Janet and Ana are in.

Ana also continued with rehearsals for Grand Hotel. The show opened on the 20th, and the town's mayor even attended the opening night performance! That's a first in Ana's 12 year history with the Players.

They saw no shows with friends, because they were too busy with the Grand one.

MAY
Ana decided with this show that she would never produce and perform in the same show again.  Being a performer, one has the luxury of only concentrating on your performance.  As a producer, you worry about all the performers, the publicity, the audiences, safety around the facility... the list goes on and on. Check out the pictures back stage, on stage, and at the cast parties.

As has become the tradition, Ana watched the Kentucky Derby with her mom on the first Saturday. An amazing horse, I'll Have Another, won it, and the following Big Race handily, giving us all a lot of excitement.

Grand Hotel closed on Mothers Day - a tradition, and Janet & Ana played their band concert the following evening. Their mom made a point of going to see them both play together again. Then, the following week, Ana took their mom to watch Janet perform, playing bass this time, in the community orchestra.[pictures]

Ana narrated another tour for the Tour group, this one originating in San Francisco. She spent 8 hours with a busload of Brazilians, telling them all about the Silicon Valley. Too much fun!

Ana spent the Memorial Day weekend with Nana, while Gwen travelled, and they had fun doing stuff that was all new to Nana.  First, she watched her first-ever Indy 500; she now understands why Ana finds it so exciting. Then on Sunday, Ana took her to her favorite karaoke bar, and they spent nearly 3 hours singing and having a great time with all her karaoke friends. The KJ and the bartender both made sure she would have a memorable time.

Shows they've seen with friends: another movie that was being restored to the big-screen, and one of Joyce's favorites, Yellow Submarine played in their neighborhood.

JUNE
Ana auditioned for a comedy called Elvis Has Left the Building, made it to callbacks, but sadly was not chosen to play Colonel Tom's secretary (a role she still thinks she could play convincingly). ;-) But the director & producer so loved her Elvis impersonation, they invited her to participate in their Elvis event in July - - now she just has to come up with an awesome "Elvis-inspired" costume.

Ana & Nana watched the Belmont together, but it wasn't nearly as exciting as they had hoped, as the favorite to win a Triple Crown was scratched at the last.  But it was still an exciting, win-by-a-nose race! Who could ask for more. And, while Janet worked (volunteered) a few days at the "O Club," Nana & Ana watched The Open on TV - what an exciting competition!!

One afternoon Ana found an hour to take some pictures at her favorite picturesque locale.

Ana went to Jazz on the Plazz in Los Gatos thanks to a new friend, Jim "the doorman" from Grand Hotel, who gave her his tickets when he couldn't use them. [pictures]. And, at the Annual Members Meeting at their theatre, Ana was re-elected to her role at the top; one more year (term limits) as President of the Board!

Plays & movies they've seen with or starring friends: Ana saw the movie MIB3 with her favorite movie buddy other than Joyce; Ana ushered twice for Lion in Winter, starring a friend from HSM2; Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, which is an interesting emo-rock telling of actual history - with a twist.  [NEXT]
