April

April started off with Passover, or Pesach, which was celebrated this year by the Messianic congregation of Tsemach Adonai at the Jewish Community Center right next door. It was a lovely time of good fellowship, remembrance, and some good food too.

Ana became enchanted with the idea of participating in the annual Sisters in Touch potluck birthday dinner at Willow Glen Neighborhood Church (where both sisters, Janet and Ana, were married, and where Joyce was dedicated). The idea of the dinner is to celebrate all the year's birthdays on one day, either by decorating the tables for different times of year, or using some other kind of theme. With the help of Joyce's Swan Lake Barbie, and many of Ana's swan and ballet accessories, this table's theme became, of course, Swan Lake.
That would be Barbie dancing on a swan-covered lake cake (since a dessert is an integral part of the contribution -- besides the idea and the decorations!)

During the week that Joyce was with her dad for Spring Break, Ana did double-duty at work, assisting the division's general manager Nigel (he was between admins) as well as her normal support for Gina and some of the other marketing managers. By the end of the week she NEEDED the massage she had received as a gift last Christmas! (TOP)

May

Mother's Day was a special one this year. This was Nana's (Claudia's) 40th Mother's Day and Ana's 10th. After attending the California Youth Symphony with Joyce (two free tickets from the Cancer Society's Daffodil Days campaign) Ana treated herself and her mom to dinner and jewelry to mark the special occasion. Janet and Joyce were there to round out the Children (hence the reason we're mothers!) part of the Day.

Joyce played her violin in the spring concert at school, as well as sang in the choir with the rest of her classmates. This is the second year she has taken the violin. Looks like it could be a keeper!

Instead of getting a season pass at Paramount's Great America, this was the year for the NEW! Six Flags Marine World in Vallejo. It's about an hour 15 minutes from home, but it's a totally different feel from the landlocked and ride-heavy Santa Clara park.

They've combined the best of the Six Flags parks with many rides, but they kept the flavor of the Marine World we remember from our childhood, with the elephant and camel rides, the up-close-and-personal --but still through a cage --opportunities to see the real, live wild animals. (TOP)
