Our Thanksgiving/Holidays Trip

We drove to Southern California for the holidays and stayed at the lovely Anabella Hotel. We had a great mini suite where Joyce had a mini room off the main room. Sweet! We took our birthday picture together in DCA in front of the Bear Mountain.

FOR THE
TRAVELOG.

We saw many of the usual characters signing autographs, and a couple that we don't see often. The turkey that was pardoned by the President was in a parade! A marching band performed in the town square ... we've never seen that before!

Everywhere we went, the flowers were in bloom ... hey, it's Southern California!  At the hotel we had bougainvillea, birds of paradise and hibiscus. In the park they had beautiful holiday colors all around, as well as the usual blooming trees and plants.

We went to the Tiki Room for the first time in a long time. All the flowers there were beautiful and exotic.

Pirates were a recurring theme everywhere we went. Of course, we dined at our favorite pirate restaurant, the Blue Bayou. They had a special menu for the holiday, and you even got to take it home as a souvenir. They performed out in New Orleans Square, music and jokes. And the stores were raking in the booty, as they had their windows and aisles decorated for the occasion.

The Jungle Cruise was nearly empty when we walked by, so we had to take a ride. We didn't ride Splash Mountain, but we stopped to watch a log stuck at the top of the spill. We did ride
the horseless
carriage.
And in the tiki room you can sing along with the all-too familiar tune.

  We didn't buy it,

We got to the park early one day, and found town square completely empty! A quiet sanctuary. Here comes the

We went to Santa's Reindeer Roundup and again saw cute deer - this one have eating difficulties - but also, a donkey named Pocahontas, and a cool mural.
The day after Thanksgiving, instead of going into the park, we strolled Downtown Disney, and went to the movies at the theatre complex there.  We both wanted to see the new Bond flick.  Wow! Well worth the price of the tickets.  Hope he sticks around to do the next ones too.
As the sun sank in the west, it cast beautiful hues onto the Tower of Terror, and provided a grand backdrop for the California Screamin' roller coaster. We watched the
fireworks from
our balcony at
the hotel.
