JANUARY

Joyce returned from her Dad's on New Years Day. Rehearsals started for The Wiz. Fifty-three kids will perform in the show in a few weeks. Joyce is an Assistant to the producers, mom and Michelle.

Ana has wanted to see the Harlem Globetrotters play for 36 years; well this was the year the gals got to a game.  Ana was not disappointed, and Joyce had a great time too. They got an autograph from one of the players, HiLite!

Ana continued with the HP Choir, singing Alto this year with the taping committee that makes the practice recordings for the full choir to use to rehearse.

Shows we've seen with friends: Rocky Horror, a repeat from last year. The girls had a table right down front this time, and saw the show on closing night. Quite memorable! Noises Off, at Pioneer, Ana's alma mater. This was a student cast, but they were as good as any adult cast with their comedic timing. Great show!

  FEBRUARY
Ana tried out for another show, a drama this time (it's been since October 1977 since she's performed a drama on-stage). She was going for one of the small character roles in To Kill A Mockingbird, but will instead play the key role of the narrator, Jean Louise Finch - what an honor!

Passages: one of Ana's favorite drama teachers from High School passed away. There were several nice things said about her in an on-line guest book, which of course Ana contributed to as well. Also, a beloved board member from their current theater family passed unexpectedly, and Ana & Joyce attended her Celebration of Life. She will be sorely missed, as she always contributed quietly, happily, and greatly.

Joyce spent Presidents Holiday week with her dad skiing in beautiful weather. A fresh batch of snow dumped while they were there, and made the skiing perfect!

At the same time, Ana opened The Wiz without her, although Joyce's assistance up to that point made it a flawless opening.

Shows we've seen with friends: She Loves Me, which Joyce was astonished she knew 16 of the 20 cast members - it's such a small theater community after all!
  MARCH
The HP Choir's taping session went off without a hitch again this year, thank goodness!  We met at 8:00am on a Saturday, so none of us wanted to do an instant replay.

Rehearsals for Mockingbird started for Ana. The Wiz closed for both gals, always bittersweet. It's nice to have a life again, but the friendships made don't always withstand distance of other shows. Time only tells. See the pictures for both casts: Emerald Cast & Silver Cast

Shows we've seen with friends: Pippin, the revival version. Ana saw this many years ago in high school. They know six members of the cast, and Ana was delighted to see Mickey Dolenz' little sister Coco in the role that would be just perfect for Ana! Beauty and the Beast at Joyce's school. Sets and costumes were beautiful (and borrowed) but all the acting was home-grown. Joyce knew several of the actors and techies, and both gals knew the young man running the sound board from previous community theater productions.
