APRIL

Joyce had a week off from school, and Ana took a week off from work. We stayed in the bay area and went to Fairfield and Salinas/Monterey to see famous local attractions.

We saw a factory where they make jelly beans, a brewery, a museum for a famous writer, and an aquarium. Click here to see the pictures of the week.

Ana auditioned for a local production of Mame and was selected to be the characters of Mother Burnside and Madame Branislowski. See the notice in the tales & tidbits column of our resident theatre wag.

And Joyce went to her Junior Prom with a friend from the theatre, Abram. Here is the prom portrait! The theme was Arabian Nights.

Shows we've seen with friends or starring friends: Dot You! which is a clever musical telling of the rise and fall of the dot com industry here in the silly-con valley. The show starred  many  of our friends from numerous productions we've worked on. Ana also saw (while Joyce was teching backstage on Jekyll & Hyde) Disney's Aladdin starring one of their Jojos from last year's Seussical.

MAY

Jekyll & Hyde played into May and right up until Mothers Day when it performed a matinee. The night before they'd gone to a cast party at their friends' house, where Ana made their now-famous 'Nana Sghetti' pasta dish. They stayed until morning when they had breakfast, as usual, only it was made more special by Mothers Day greetings from those who had also stayed over.

The show performed, they struck the set, loaded up Joyce's van with props for the set shop, put everything away, and went to a final cast party at their favorite restaurant/bar/karaoke place. See the pictures of their memories of the final show of this season.

Ana continued rehearsals for Mame, and rehearsals for the HP Choir's Spring Concert, both of which debut next month. She also auditioned for and was selected to be in Bye Bye Birdie which holds special memories for her. She will be playing the Mayor's wife, who swoons at the feet of Birdie. Another opportunity to for her to overact!

Shows they've seen with or starring friends: Steel Magnolias, featuring a friend of Woody's, an acquaintance of Ana's. She played the magnificent role that Sally Field played in the movie; Robin Hood with some of the young people from the cast of Anne. Caught the new Poseidon movie at the local IMAX theater ... awesome!

JUNE

The HP Choir performed what may be their final concerts, since the future of the group is uncertain within the company, due to budget cut-backs. Ana sang tenor again, and also performed a solo singing Norah Jones' Come Away with Me and a duet with one of the basses on Nat and Natalie Cole's Unforgettable. All in all, it was a most unforgettable concert series

Mame opened and got some great reviews.

Shows they've seen with or starring friends: the movie Over the Hedge, their friend Dan worked on the Systems Engineering ... his name is in the credits right after HP! La Cage aux Folles starring so many of their friends from the theatre, they had to go see it!
