JULY 2 0 0 9
As usual, for the 4th of July, BooBoo did the annual white water rafting adventure down the Klamath, and Joyce celebrated with fireworks at her dad's; Ana and Nana spent a quiet day at home watching golf, then Ana spent the evening holding the dogs, "protecting" them from the noises and smells of the fireworks in their neighborhood.

The next day she partied with her Glue Factory friends at their annual day-after Bar-be-Glue ;-) where they talked over details of the next show, The Wiz. Later that evening she reun'd with old friends from high school Joe and Kermit. It had been 30+ years since Ana had seen Joe, and 5 since she'd run into Kermit at Disney California Adventure. Joe had found Ana on the classmates website, and gotten in touch when he knew he'd be coming to the area to visit family for the 4th. He asked her about Kermit so she tracked him down again, and the three got together with Joe's family and had dinner and reminiscences.

The following weekend Ana and her mom wandered out to his nursery where he doesn't take care of kids, but instead raises plants and rescued animals. They had a lovely time talking over the old days and enjoying the nature that still exists in stretches of south San Jose.

Joyce started working again at Fridays, and was so happy. Ana dined there as well, several times over the first few weeks after opening. Ana finally began rehearsals for Bye Bye Birdie. She did the math and realized she has wanted to play this particular role for 35 years!  A dream finally come true .... good things come to those who wait!

Shows they saw with or starring friends: Aaron invited Ana to The City to catch an Edward Albee play At Home At The Zoo which was funny, strange and poignant; Ana caught the preview performance of The Who's Tommy, in which several of their friends performed; the gals saw the second Transformers installment and helped boost it's record-breaking box-office.

  AUGUST
Well, it's the end of an era. After 13 years, Janet and Ana will no longer be roommates as Janet will be moving out. They have an opportunity to move to another house, and they're taking it. Ana will be looking for someone else to help share the rent, hopefully, on this current house. One constant you can always count on ... change. C'est la vie.

Joyce and Ana attended their team's first home pre-season game, which was very exciting ... and they won! Looks like this year will be a good one ... for a change. Thanks Mike!!

Rehearsals for Bye Bye Birdie went well and performances occurred in the final weekend of August. Several of Ana's Glue Factory friends attended the first weekend and brought her flowers! And ran them up on stage during bows!! The second weekend one of her director friends came specifically to see her, even though he is in the finally nights of rehearsal before his own show opens. He paid her the ultimate compliment .... he said to her, "you really need to do this more often!"

Ana's older brother hit a milestone birthday ... he is now 50.  Of course, that means that Ana is only 14 months behind him. They took him out for his favorite food, Indian, to a great local restaurant. The waiter even gave them all a senior discount. ;-) Too funny.

Shows they saw with or starring friends: Ana went to one of the two upcoming productions of The Producers which are being staged at two local theatres. Of course, the gals have friends in both productions, so they will have to go see both! Even though Ana will be performing in BBB, she went to see another production of it, because she has friends in the show. Her friends were great, and she didn't know the Conrad, but he was hysterical!!

  SEPTEMBER
Ana began rehearsals (already!) for The Wiz at the Glue Factory. They perform one weekend only at the end of October. She also performed the closing weekend of BBB. Here are some pictures of the happy times on- and back-stage.

Ana went to the opening game of their team, sans Joyce, who was at Disneyland. Good thing their guys won! They are 2 and 0 ... YAY!

Shows they saw with or starring friends: Ana went to see friends in Schoolhouse Rock Live at a local movie theatre that has been renovated to be half live theatre, and half movie theatre. The local theatre community hope it works out. She also went with one of their theatre friends to see the touring company production (in San Jose!) of Spamalot - very fun! And Ana was there on opening night for their theatre company's production of Once Upon A Mattress (while Joyce was in Disneyland with her dad). The many friends they have in the show sought her out afterward to say they were so happy to hear her laughter in the audience ... which of course spurred more laughter. Ana saw Little Shop of Horrors with several of their friends, again while Joyce was in SoCal. Their friend Aaron played the dentist, as well as many incidental "characters" that wandered into the scenes from time to time ... hysterical!
